Little Red River Cree Nation (Northern Alberta; East of High Level)

• Fly to Grande Prairie
  • most flights from YVR require a stop over in Edmonton or Calgary
  • For safety, it may be preferable to stay the night in Grande Prairie, and then drive to High Level the following day
• Rent a car in Grande Prairie; drive to High Level
  • 450 km along Highway AB-35
  • full size SUV with snow tires is required to drive between High Level and the local communities of John D'or Prairie, Fox Lake, and Garden River
• Accommodation
  • High Level has a few hotels to choose from
  • Econo Lodge & Suites has rooms with kitchenettes (9722-97 Street, High Level)
  • as of November 2019, the LRRCN communities do NOT have accommodation for our use
    • it is likely that you will have to stay in High Level and commute to communities daily

Alternative:

• RV rentals are available in Edmonton
  • It may be possible to fly to Edmonton, and rent an RV to drive to High Level and within the communities. Keep in mind that this is not advisable in winter as the campgrounds are closed and RVs are winterized (no water or plumbing). The road conditions are poor, so a large RV is not advised.
