Gwawaenuk (Vancouver Island, North by Port Hardy)

• Fly to Port Hardy
• Drive ~30 minutes to Port McNeil
• The boat leaves early so you'd need to stay overnight in Port McNeil or nearby. Try the Black Bear Hotel. Average $125/person/night in the off-season.
• ~2.5 hour boat ride to Hopetown (the Village). It departs from the government dock in Port McNeil and is called the Gwawas.
  • Leaves 8:00AM, arrives in community around 11:00AM
  • If you're trying to catch a late afternoon flight back to Vancouver, you'd have to be on the boat back to Port McNeil for around 1:00PM. Depends how rough the waters are in the channel too.
